The church authorities demand priests of the Brest eparchy of the Belarusian Orthodox Church to show their passports to see how often they travel abroad.
Asked about the aim of the control, a priest supposed it is done to prevent picking up “alien ideas”.
This measure met discontent, because as other dwellers of the Brest region priests go on shopping to Poland. Shopping tours to Poland became especially popular amid crisis giving an opportunity to buy high-quality goods and save money.
