Lukashenka’s administration offers unrealistic projects to sell out items of state-owned property and double the GDP.

Leanid Anfimau, deputy head of Lukashenka’s administration, has offered the government to set a target of redoubling the GDP in the next five years, and not increase it 1.6-1.7 times, as the government had planned in the country’s social and economic development program in 2011-2015, Interfax reports.

“Then we would be able to give our country a new face,” the press-service quotes the words by L. Anfimau when discussing his initiative of the GDP growth, expressed during the consultations with the leader of the state on Friday.

The Deputy Head of the Administration has also attracted attention to a number of problems and shortcomings in the current work of the government, local authorities,” a representative of the press-service noted.

Thus, according to Anfimau, “the government sees no other ways of solving the problem of the negative balance caused by appreciation of energy resources except by means of selling key items of state-owned property”.

During the consultations Vice Prime Minister Andrei Kabyakou put forward an initiative to expand privatization process dramatically in order to attract foreign investments.

The government offers to sell $5 billion of state property to investors in 2011.

Alyaksandr Lukashenka answered to that: “If someone thinks that we would cover the holes (foreign trade deficit) by selling state property, it is futile. We are not going to sell any state property for these goals. The policy in the sphere of privatization is to remain the same, as it used to be before”.

On Friday Lukashenka stated that in January-July 2010 implementing of the most important parameters of the guidelines of the socio-economic development was in fact “messed up”.
