Beside Ukraine, public hearings on construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant could be held in Austria as well.
The public discussions on Belarusian nuclear power plant could be reshceduled from March 31 to a later date. As informed by BelaPAN, a representative of the Natural Protection Ministry Alyaksandar Andreeu stated that. The Ukrainain side offered to hold public hearings on March 31 in Kyiv, but the Belarusian authorities could be not ready by that time.
Ukrainian NGOs have expressed concern over the Belarusian nuclear power plant. They have written a complaint against Belarus to the Committee on implementing the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment and Aarhus Convention Compliance Committee.
By the way, Austria wants to hold the public hearings on the environmental impact assessment of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. They can take place in April. As said by the official, Poland hasn't expressed its desire to carry out public hearings or a meeting of experts concerning the nuclear power plant. Russia, which had been sent materials on the Belarusian nuclear power plant as well, gave an official answer that they have no questions.
We remond that on March 2 public hearings were held in Vilnius and caused indignation of the community. The Belarusian authorities could not answer questions which had been asked directly. On March 23 working consultations concerning construction of the nuclear power plant were held in Latvia, but they were held behind the closed doors.
