Russian Prime Minister added up losses due to gas deliveries to Belarus 18

Every year Russia receives $3 billion less than it is due because of duty-free gas deliveries to Belarus.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has stated during the annual televised question-and-answer session with Russians, Lenta.ru informs.

Earlier during the talks in Moscow, dedicated to creation of the single economic space, First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Uladzimir Syamashka noted that Minsk would receive duty-free gas constantly. “We received gas duty-free, but there have always been some doubt. From now on in the framework of the Customs Union this preference is constant,” the official noted.

Meanwhile, Minsk is trying to secure a discount for fuel: in 2011 Russian gas for Belarus is to go up in price according to the contracts in force, though Belarusians asked to fix fuel prices at the level of 2010. In early October “Gazprom” informed that gas price for Belarus in the next year is to reach $220 per thousand cubic metres as compared to $185 this year.

In 2011-2015 Minsk plans to buy in Russia 22.5 billion of cubic metres of gas annually.

Since 2011 Belarus is expected to receive Russian oil free of duty. According to estimations of the Finance Ministry, Russia’s donations to Belarus are to make 4 billion dollars.
