Belarus external debt increases as a snowball 12

Belarus gross external debt as of October 1, 2010 amounted to $25 593,3 billion.

Thus, the external debt has increased within nine months of 2010 by 16%, is said in the report of Belarus National Bank.

In the III quarter the external debt has increased by 10,5% after the increase by 4,2% in the II quarter and increase by 0,8% in the I quarter of 2010, Interfax-West writes.

Short-term state debt since the beginning of the year has increased by 12% up to $11 billion 122,4 mln, long-term debt has increased by 19,3% and amounted to $14 billion 470,9 mln. The share of the short-term debt has decreased up to 43,5% from 45% as of January 1, 2010.

In the structure of the total external debt of Belarus the share of nonfinancial sector of the economy amounted to $9 billion 650,9 mln as of October 1, 2010, having increased by 8,2% within nine months. For the III quarter of 2010 the debt of the companies has risen by 7,8% after growth of 4,2% for the II quarter and reduction of 3,7% for the I quarter of 2010. In its structure the short-term debt as of October 1, 2010 amounted to $7 billion 795,2 mln, having increased by 8,5% since the beginning of the year.

The debt of companies to direct investors for January-September has increased by 3,1%, up to $823,8 mln as of October 1, 2010.

The external debt of Belarus state administration bodies, in accordance with the report, as of October 1, 2010 amounted to $9 billion 970,4 mln, having increased by 19,2% within nine months (including 11,4% increase for the III quarter). The total amount of the external debt of the state bodies is long-term. It includes $8,4 billion for borrowings and loans, $1 billion for Eurobonds, $565 mln – for other debt obligations.

The external debt of the monetary regulation has grown in 9 months by 25,3% to $ 531 billion

The external debt of banks as of October 1, 2010 totaled $ 4 billion 617.2 million, up 30% compared with the beginning of the year. For the III quarter the debt of banks increased by 11.9% after rising 18.4% for the II quarter. Including short-term debt of banks in 9 months has increased by 41,4% and as of October 1, amounted to $ 2 billion 367.2 million

The total external debt of Belarus grew in 2009 to 45.4% and totaled $ 22.06 billion (45,1% of GDP) as of January 1, 2010 after increasing in 2008 to 19,1%, 87,4% growth for 2007 year and an increase of 32,3% in 2006.
