Entrepreneurs of Brest forced to give up on strike

Market vendors of the central market in Brest haven’t supported the nation-wide strike. They surrendered to pressure of the administration of the market, BelaPAN was told by the chairman of the Brest branch of the public association “Perspekiva” Viktar Chajkouski.
“I have learnt that a day before entrepreneurs had been told that in case they stop work on December 19, they would be deprived of working places at the market. Fearing to lose their working place in the center of the city, where trade is profitable, people worked today. And almost all entrepreneurs have hired workers there,” V. Chajkouski specified.
As said by him, on December 19 vendors of 8 trade centres and 8 markets in Brest supported the strike. By 12.30 two markets and 4 trade centres were not working. From 87% to 90% of vendors worked at 5 other markets and four trade centres. Only 20% of vendors took part in the strike at “Budaunichy Raj” trading centre.
